No deer, but a great time with friends and family in the woods.
« on: October 19, 2009, 09:34:29 AM »
Left Friday with my bro to head to our usual opening day spot.
Set up camp Friday night and relaxed around the camp fire for a bit then headed to bed.
Up before the sun to hike our boots off.
Hiked all day in multiple weather changes and heard only a few shots.
My cousin missed a bear at 300 yards. All in all it was a great first weekend.
Headed back next weekend to try our luck again.
My brother and i did set up our trail camera just to see what kind of animals might be around.
Cant wait to check it on Friday.

Nice report and pictures... I know where you were... is the outhouse still sitting up there ? I loved the views from there...

Are they still looking for someone to volunteer to man that look-out, as part of the history?

Glad you had a great time. That area is beautiful especially by the cattle guard !! ;) Maybe next time you will have a little more luck to go with the views. Did any of you hang out by the wood ground blind?
