Big buck down
« on: October 19, 2009, 03:33:55 PM »
went out for the opening weekend. I didnt have a rifle tag but my dad and sister did. Saturday saw a lot of deer but no shot opportunities Right after shooting light on sunday i spotted 2 bucks and a doe. Got my sister all set up and she cracked off a shot with her ruger .243. I knew she missed cuz the buck froze. My dad quickly put the buck in his crosshairs and took a shot. I knew it was a solid hit. We went and looked for the deer and i stumbled upon him not 30 yards from where he was shot. Felt bad for my sister but at least now we got some meat in the freezer! 4x4 with a 19" spread

nice shot!  Wish your sister would have connected but the memory of the family hunt together is the next best thing.  Great pics!

Thanks!
ya she didnt really have time for a second shot. My dad was all ready to back her up after her first shot. the buck was about to bolt and we needed to crack off another shot before he bounded off. Kinda sucks how it all worked out for her, but it was a fun trip and we're all just happy we got the buck down

funny you should mention that klikboom, it was 2 years ago within 5 miles from that spot i missed a huge 5x5 muley. it was my first, as well as my sisters first shots at bucks... Guess me and my sis have buck fever!

ya it's too bad. But she didn't have a solid rest for the second shot. I think the fever got to her  :chuckle: She was just happy to see the buck down regardless of if it was her shot or not. She's got a real good attitude about everything and i'm really proud of her for that.
