Hey Mike.  Just got a call from a friend sitting at the top of the Chelan Range watching three deer bedded down in the bottom of the basins below that place that you and Zane walked up to a few times.  I think you know the spot.  One four and a three.  The third buck he can't get an I.D. on.  He has them ranged at 300 yards, straight down.  So we can all agree that this is a takable shot.  Just lost contact with him and his last words were.  "Hang on I just spotted another buck".

Thats AWESOME!  I sure miss that area, and I would've been back there this year had I not gotten my ID residency...  I tried like hell to convince my brother to head up there for the opener and hike in the night before and sit on the far ridge before light but he leaves today with his wife for their vacation and he was too busy all weekend.  That and I think he really enjoys going out with me because he's only hunted for a year and likes to have someone around with a touch more experience...  I'll send zane a few pics of this buck, tell you're buddy good luck and I hope he nails a monster out of there!!!

Haven't heard back from Ken yet since we lost reception.  Actually a little concerned right now.  I'd just asked him to peek over the edge of the cliff he was spotting from and glass into the dark timber at the base of the cliff straight down.  He said he was trying to do that but it was kind of scary.  Then he said he sees another buck and click, no more contact.  Tried calling back after awhile but only get that "Trying to locate subscriber".  I'm hoping we just lost reception, or the phone fell.  If I don't hear back in a few hours I will make the 3 hour drive to where his truck is parked.

I hear ya there Dan, I'll say a quick prayer for you're buddy, I'm sure he's okay though.  You know all the things that'll keep you off the phone when hunting that country alone!  Sure wish I was up there right now!!!

I enjoyed your hunting story and your pictures sorry you had to defend it. I hope you get the biggest elk in all of Idaho and tell the story the way it happened thats what I enjoy not the I would have done it this way or that it;s your hunt and needs to be your story and the pack out you made sure looks like you earned it to me.

Sorry but I don't buy it!! If your buddy can put ten shots under 5" at 700yrds, tell him to come on up to one of our benchrest matches at 600yrds and I'll bet you and him that he wont do it consistently!, I shoot 1,000 yrds and 600 yrds matches all the time and it is very hard even with a $3,000 Bench Gun to do what your stating, You must have a no wind at ALL!!! to acomplish this, I have put 10 shots at 600yrds under 5" but it is very HARD!! and I shoot a lot.
Why stroke it when you can RAM it!
