First West Coast Buck
« on: October 20, 2009, 01:31:18 PM »
Haven't had a chance to hunt for deer in the last three years. Opening day was my first time out for blacktails. Didn't see anything all morning. Loocking for a place to hang my stand as someone was in the are i wanted to hunt and bumped into this guy in the middle of the day while still hunting during a break in the rain. Nice little 4 point with two extra kickers on one side. Nice to have fresh meat in the freezer again. Now its time for ducks and pheasants!

Good news for you nchaput, he isn't little and you got a nice buck. My guess is you are from back east somewhere (tell me if I am correct or not). Most blacktail hunters don't use tree stands and would never call him little. Major congrats!!!!! You will love the meat! :stirthepot:

Congrats on a great buck! Are you getting him mounted, it looks like you caped him for it. I had to flip that picture so that it was upright.

Yeah you guys have it pegged. Used to hunting whitetails on the east coast. Not doing a shoulder mount but I am having Joe do a euro mount for me. Didn't know about not using treestands for blacktails. Guess I lucked out. I do agree though good eats, didn't know how the taste would differ.

Nchaput; welcome to the wet side!

Now, add 10 percent beef fat to the burger, go to Safeway or similar store and pick up a bottle of Spice Islands garlic salt (this one specifically) and some cracked pepper. Season the burgers with these two and grille them. They will be the best burgers you have ever had!  :cue:
