Who got their licenses checked?
« on: October 20, 2009, 08:16:57 PM »
This weekend was the first time ever i had my license and tags checked by a warden.  I was hunting IEP land and the gates were open so he was just driving around up there.he checked my tags but didn't ask for my IEP permit.  He was a nice guy. We talked with him for a while and he said he had not checked a single deer yet but it was about 1:30 on Saturday. Who else ran into a warden?

My boy and I were hunting in the Olympic unit and was stopped by fish and game officer. two officers in the truck. they chatted with us and got a kick out of my boy playing his i-pod while dads trying to find a place to hunt. They told us a few areas to look at and they were on there way. I have been stopped 3 times in 25 years of hunting. PS never saw a deer in til we pulled into are driveway and theres 2 deer eating off my apple trees.

I was checked once by a game warden that I had actually called to report illegal activity, but was also checked Sunday.  The two gentleman were extremely nice and actually helped my Dad and I track the buck he had shot that morning.  One of them was like a blood hound!  They were excited for my dad, and then gave us a lesson on how to age deer by their teeth.  It was very cool.

Thanks for relaying those stories!  I think that we tend to hear whenever someone has a BAD experience but most of the wardens are probably guys just doing their jobs.  Glad to hear about the good experiences once in a while.

I got stopped as I was driving down one of the dirt roads on closing day of early archery as I was leaving to go home.  He checked my license, bow, and broadheads.  Asked what my draw weight was and how much my arrows weighed.  What sucked was after he was done, I saw the buck I had been after all season not 30 yards off the road.
