THanks guys. Have never really seriously hunted blacktail much as I hunt the eastside and out of state but now with a boy that wants to hunt figured I better do some hunting closer to home too. He got a spike on the opener. Never been a big fan of road hunting and just glassing clearcuts so this hunt sure made it feel more like the kind of hunting I am used to. Not going to say where I was but the oly pen. has plenty of steep and deep and upper country that gets you out of the brush somewhat and no I haven't ran into any vampires out there yet but I hear they are out there! nwhunter

Your dad must be one tough S.O.B still using the old military pack frame. I bought one at a yard sale about 15 yrs ago and used it once. OUCH!!!!! I still have that damn thing somewhere. :chuckle:
