Sucessful hunters...What rifle round did you use for your deer?

Wow, 30-06 is not really making it's mark! My dad shot one with my Rem 30-06 150 grain corelock 281 yards. my almost everybody i hunt with has used my gun to kill a deer. It has 14 kills in 6 years.

well havent had the season I hunt yet,50 cal 295 grain power belt,thats what worked on the last deer

I don't think it matters the shape and size of the little brass case that holds the powder that burns.  As long as it sends out that little piece of lead and hits the target, that's all that matters.  To me, this question is a fun one but one where we don't learn a lot.  I worry less about the size and shape of the powder holder and more about the object that actually makes contact with the animal.  Bullet design is 95% of it, in my opinion.

I am not looking for a thread to argue about what cal is better, just woundering what is most popular this year!

As for me, I used my .270 win for my Oregon buck and my WA buck this year.

I used my .243.  Killed my 13th deer with the rifle and it has yet to fail me.  100 Grain Core Locked Spire Point bullet. 

I've never understood why people shoot a .300 RUM or .340 Wthby at 100 pound deer?? Do you not enjoy venison?? Everything that I have ever seen that wasn't hit perfectly behind the shoulder when perfectly broadside,  there was one hell of a mess.  I understand the theory of not wanting your animal to run off in thick brush and trying to drop it in it's tracks but a well placed shot with a smaller caliber can accomplish it.     Not bashing you big bore guys but I just don't get it..

I guess it's fun if you enjoy making hamburger out of both front shoulders upon impact.  Nothing like cutting 50 pounds of meat off your deer and leaving it in the woods because it looks like it's been through a blender.  Not my idea of fun.
