Anyone heard if any of the chum are starting to show in the canal yet?

should be some around Johns Creek or Kennedy Creek and by the end of the month Hoodsport should have them.


I would give my left nut for a bunch of chum eggs right now!!!

The Skoks are netting the crap out of them on the canal.  They are thick at my Dads on Totten Inlet.  My Dad watched 6 seals in fron of his house the other day and every one of them had a bright chum in its mouth.

I would say they are fine eggs for cureing and I'm always LOW.  My guide buddy who has been doing very well on a new cure ( 20 fish per day average ) he has made is going to get me a bunch and I need some eggs to use it on.

I had a buddy that was sapose to have a buddy that was going to get me a bunch this year. Now it don't look like it's going to work out as he can't get in touch with the guy.

I'm hoping to get a few out of the sound this weekend for eggs.  I give the carcasses to my neighbor to smoke, he'll smoke any kind of fish.

Ya ive never fished them but wanna try it on the canal i heard it can be pretty fun

We caught them in Alaska with trout rods and 8 lb line.  Hell of a good time when you hook into a 15 pounder on light gear and have to chase it for 20 minutes with a skiff to get it in.

 My friends wife caught a 40lb chum on a local river, honest to pete I saw the disposable shot of it and it's every ounce a 40lb fish. If my scanner still worked I would post, but he's not the type to care about any kind of record fish as far as that goes. I've never had any luck with the chums, they don't like me for some reason. I fished the Satsop one time and literally everyone was yarding them in but me.

I would.... Just because theyre not as highly regarded as kings and silvers their still a ton of fun and i would love to catch a gigantic chum

An old timer told me that fishing for chums is a lot like making love to yer sister. It might feel good but it's just not some thing you go bragging about to yer buddies.

Chum have great eggs. And they smoke just fine.. If they are bright. If they have bars they go back to the water. They sure are fun to catch though.
