More meat in the frizzer.
« on: October 24, 2009, 08:33:14 AM »
Will I'm not one to fill a doe tag until the last minute, but yesterday afternoon I couldn't pass on this one. This is the first year I stayed over here, (Westside) to hunt deer. I'm from Chewelah and moved over here 4 1/2 yrs ago for work and always go home to hunt deer. I put my wife, one daughter and myself in for a partner draw for does in unit 603 and we got tags. I posted my 10 yr old's doe already. Will I went out past Joyce and walked about a mile or so past a gate. Came on a clear cut and a Big doe I mean big doe was standing at what I guessed at 200 yds. I've got a lot going on right now and need to get some things done so I can take elk season off. So I gave her a chance and took a head shot at her, I don't like to ruin meat on does. I had my shooting sticks and a tree for a rest. These are my first hand loads ever, 7mm rem. mag. I have my elk loads in, 160 gr, Nosler AccuBonds, 60 grs of IMR 4350, mag primer. I put the cross hairs on her head and touched it off. She dropped. :IBCOOL: She ended up right at 251 yr.s. Way cool. I bought a harness deer drag from Cabala's. It took me an hour to drag her back to my pick-up. It's not always about the horns, this was one of the funnest hunts in a new area I've had. Loved the work out in the dark back to the truck. It was just a doe so I didn't take any pictures.
