Who got scoped this year?
« on: October 26, 2009, 08:25:29 AM »
Well?  We had the before season starts thread.  Lets hear about the after season thread.  Who got scoped and what did you do about it?

I hope nobody replies and everyone was safe.

My brother had rounds zipping over his head.  My brother walked into an area.  Sat down in the open (wheat and crp, it's all open) saw some deer walking through the bottom of the draw.  Was about to have his 8 month pregnant wife shoot when here comes the super hunters.  The "Super Hunters" who drive all over on their 4 wheelers pull up see the deer and start slinging lead at the deer who was between my brother and the "super hunters."  They shot all their ammo up missing of course and then drove off.

I got scoped in the Teanaway and yelled across the draw that if he didn't put his gun down he would die.

It's because of this kind of crap that I bowhunt.  I'm still not immune from getting scoped by the predator hunters but it does decrease the odds. Had some pos scope me several years back, he was parked next to me at the gate so when I returned to my vehicle and pulled off I let the gravel fly all over his truck, childish-yes, felt an ounce of satisfaction-yes.

i guess i am thankful that i bow hunt.  if you have to use a scope to look then you obviously are not properly equipped and should not be out there...

Lets limit the stories of why one rifle hunts vs bow hunts and stick to the stories of people getting scoped.  That horse has been beat to death.

No offense to the ones that posted before.  Happy hunting to all whatever the method. :)

Got scoped twice, once opening weekend, once this last weekend.  Both times just got out of sight, as the hunters were probably 7-800 yards away.  The one this last weekend was 2 guys, one wearing orange, one in just camo they were a long ways off, so yelling wouldn't have done anything.  Funny thing is that I saw the camo guy first.

Worst part of it...after getting back into sight, looked at the hunters again, and they were using binos... to look around.  Quite irked, but what can you do about it other than try to keep yourself as safe as possible.

Pretty darn close on Saturday:  The guy was using the guardrail on the side of the road as a rifle rest to look or shoot at something up the hill ACROSS THE PAVED ROAD, that I was driving on...For a brief moment, I blocked his view, AND SHOT... as I drove by.  I didn't know until I was already in his sights.

I called it in, but didn't have his plates.

RCW 9.41.230
Aiming or discharging firearms, dangerous weapons.

(1) For conduct not amounting to a violation of chapter 9A.36 RCW, any person who:

     (a) Aims any firearm, whether loaded or not, at or towards any human being
;

     (b) Willfully discharges any firearm, air gun, or other weapon, or throws any deadly missile in a public place, or in any place where any person might be endangered thereby. A public place shall not include any location at which firearms are authorized to be lawfully discharged; or

     (c) Except as provided in RCW 9.41.185, sets a so-called trap, spring pistol, rifle, or other dangerous weapon,

although no injury results, is guilty of a gross misdemeanor punishable under chapter 9A.20 RCW.

     (2) If an injury results from a violation of subsection (1) of this section, the person violating subsection (1) of this section shall be subject to the applicable provisions of chapters 9A.32 and 9A.36 RCW.

If you get scoped and can get a license plate number, or can otherwise positively identify the perpetrator, I strongly recommend a call to the county sheriff. :twocents:
