skunked
« on: November 01, 2009, 06:15:30 PM »
first year hunting blacktails, saw alot of sign, trails, rubs, and big fresh tracks so know we were close but never scored. the vision of antlers and a clear shot still haunts me. it was a learning experience, i know now that more scouting is needed, more patience, and more time in the field.. sooo.. i also know i am not alone, congrats to those that did fill their tag but know there are others out there that are eating tag soup with me.. tell me i am not alone!   :)

Good advice here snowninja. Late season four days can be and usually is better then the regular season. Keep scouting and get after them in a couple weeks ;).

There are usually as many Blacktail killed in the four days of late Buck as there are in the entire regular season and there are usually way more bigger bucks. Your still in the game....Good Luck........................Les

thanks for the encouragement, was just hoping to get something close to home in 448 (not open for late season). i've gone thru the regs to see what areas are open for the late hunt seems almost all except those just west of the cascade range. what is the reason they don't see the late hunt?

Keep on keep,n on snowninja. As more leaves fall of the trees you will get that clear shot. You have a couple of weeks to seek out a spot for the late season. Do some homework and it will pay off. Im looking forward to seeing your pics. ;)
