Bear i got last month
« on: October 28, 2009, 09:52:25 PM »
My uncle Bill and I walked into a hole I crawled the last 50ft to get on the rock ledge that over looks the hill side my uncle Bill had gone about 50 yards left and was behind a log i start glassing my side of the hill its two hours till dark and we had planned on sittin till it was too dark to see about 5 mins go by and hear the click click call from Bill. start looking over to my left and theres the bear just getting on a stump eating blackberries no clue what he was in for at 187 yards. i swing the 270 around real slow get lined up and he blows off the side of the stump "clean shot both lungs" rolls two times and hes down no no hes up and running down hill i stand up jack in a round and miss next round, miss just as it clears the two logs and goes down yes :IBCOOL: look around and theres a doe that has seen the whole thing, it looks at us as we make it down the hill side, find the bear, come back up the hill i go to get the truck there are two logs 100 yards apart that we have to cut out to get the truck down to a place we can get the rope down to try and get the bear out before dark. I go back down get the bear tied up 200+yards down and back up the hill so by the time im back on the flat im exhausted has im laying 10ft from the bear on the ground trying to get my wind and wait for bill to get back with the truck this doe walked up to me within 5ft and just looks at me looks at the bear looks like she nods to me and walks off has if to say thanks that guys a pain in my tail bill gets back pic time great sunset for pics bill guts in we get it back to camp and get it hung skin out for a full rug get done about 2 am still jacked up stay up talking about the day and drinking till 430. next day drive the 3 plus hours back to drop the skull hide bone to the taxidermist then back to camp for the rest of our week trip and a great trip it was thanks for reading "scale is guted" no fat on bear will get the pics up soon there to big rite now

Good looking bear, i also like the scale pic, brought a few bears posted on here down a size or two..
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
