2007 PHOTO of the YEAR
« on: January 01, 2008, 12:43:39 AM »
Its up to you to decide which picture you think deserves photo of the year.  The poll will run for 30 days.  At that time the results will show who will win the 2007 photo of the year contest.  The winner will recieve a coveted Hunting/Washington.com Hat.  I will try to get the photos all moved over here so you can see them before you place your vote.

I love Elkmans photo but since the site is titled "Hunting Washington" and not Scenic Washington I'm going to have to go with M-Rays shot, even though it means I have to deal with his swollen head all year :chuckle:

I agree. I think "hunting washington" says it all with big bull down!

I have enjoyed all of the photo's submitted over the past several months and I like the selections made for the finalists! I am in strong agreement with several of you on the hunting washington theme....M_Ray's WA bull has my vote. If it were merely a WA scenery contest, Elkmans's photo would win hand's down in my opinion. Congrat's to all of the finalists!

What does greatest photo mean?  If I'm the judge, I would need to have direction about what best photo means.  If it is just a skillfully composed WA subject done to perfection, Elkman wins.  If it's the biggest game animal captured competently, M-ray wins.  If it's a rare subject that is often overlooked and was captured amazingly with the fog, the grouse wins.  The child with the deer evokes emotion in all of us and makes us remember our first deer.  And the bear is a nice subject.  If it's the best combination of subject for this specific site and photography, M-ray may very well be the winner.  Without regard to personal preference in the subject matter, Elkman's photo is the best.

Got alot of tallent on this page. Great pictures. We should think about making these pictures into postcards and selling them at public meets or something. I just cant see all these beautiful pictures not used for something. Maybe a Hunting-washington calender. YEAH, i like that idea. Might have to look into that.....

I voted for? ? ? ? ? ? ?      Not tellin. But great pictures from all of you. lets see some more!

Yah, Mray I was just harrassing you.
Which one to vote for.....Well, Shawn pretty much summed it up, or at least the points that got these photos here in the first place.  I might ahve given the bear pic more credit as I think the detail of it is awesome especially for the subject matter.  All in all, thats why you guys are voting.  I get to sit back and relax on this one.  It has nothing to do whether its about hunting or scenery or what. At this point its what photo do you like best.

Elkman's Rainier. It may not be of a animal but it is a great shoot of what us Washington hunter get to see out there.

I also voted for Elkman's photo, it is by far an amazing photo and who cares if it is a scenery picture. It is prime example of areas that hold deer and elk which so many on this site like to hunt, so I don't know how you can claim it isn't hunting related. Keep taking those photo's elkman

The bush in the way isn't bad.  The dead-eye is what I notice the most.  It's pretty easy to fix with some photo editing software or by emailing the picture to me...  :)

Thanks! It's a Thompson Center Firehawk, It has to be 8 years old now. I have a new TC Black Diamond but I haven't gotten it totally dialed and I shoot this one so good I doubt I'll change until necassary.

That's a good idea though.  We could have made that bull a 400" 10x10 M-Ray.  I bet you would have won that photo contest then...  :)  Or better yet, I could have taken my head and placed it on your body, and then I could have added a hot chick in a bikini sitting on the elk next to me...  Or maybe two...and they could have been from the Swedish Bikini Team...

Oh crap, my wife is calling me.  Bye.

Vote for me as photo of the year.  I gotta be honest, it was hard work taking this bull.  The 4 of us were out messin around in the woods and I was a little in the rut if you know what I mean.  I soon realized I had some competition so the girls helped me shoot my smoke pole and kill this big one.  He's only an 8x8 but he's got some really nice fronts.  That blond could pack 200 lbs on her back, it was impressive to see.  I hope I win...

OH my GOD, it's da turdy point buck!

yeah i'm a deer hunter how do you do

i got this deer huntin rappin tale for you
i'm so excited, it's my favorite time of year
i love to freeze my buns chasin trophy deer
but don't clap your hands to the stompin of the feet
cause ya he's like me he can't keep a steady beat no

i got this great big knife cause the hunting is my life
it's my chance to drink beer and get away from the wife
it's the boys night out acting stupidly

say now baby baby don't you think maybe how bout you and me yeah
well we partied all night never made it to our bunks and
i was sittin in the tree stand on the tree dead drunk
windmill blowin 45, temp thirty below, i was freezin to death, then it started to snow
so i got down from the tree stand start headin for the truck
and thats when i seen it there, the turdy point buck
the turdy point buck?
turdy point buck (5x)

well he was eight foot tall, weighed twelve thousand pounds, with every step there was a shakin' on the ground
he was so rutiful so beautiful
strutted right out of my dreams, he was created by God just for outdoor magazines
now i'm not much for thinkin, no i don't do it often
but i had an idea
to put that turdy pointer in his coffin

turdy point buck
hh
turdy point buck

i couldn't get to my grenades
the howitzer was in the shop
my stomache was tied into a monkey knot
ya my only hope was betty lou
she was da one
a combination AK-57 uzzie radar lasar triple barrel double scoped heat-seakin shotgun

turdy point buck
hh
turdy point buck
turdy point buck

ya dat the women clappin' the the back dere i gotta make dat

well he was comin for me gettin bigger and bigger but my fingers were so frozen i could not pull the trigger
i kicked off my boots fired with my big toe
i was Dirty Harry, John Wayne, and G.I. Joe

ya dat turday point buck was only 10 feet away
ya still i couldn't seem to hit him and he wouldn't run away
and after 20 minutes when the smoke cleared
there were hunters on the ground and the world's biggest deer
standing tall and proud, he looked at me and yawned (ohhhhhhh dear)
and then a flash of white, and there he was, gone

[cryin and burpin]

well seven men got up and then one fell down
a big lump of blaze orange, shakin on the ground
at first i thought he was one of the boys
but it was a no brother good in law man from illinois

only cheese-heads in here, right boys?
send him back on the next plane ya know

Did ya see the turdy pointer?
Did ya see the turdy pointer?
Did ya see the turdy pointer?
Did ya see the turdy pointer?

as we jumped into da truck
sayin i'm gonna get that turdy point buck
yeah i'm gonna get that turdy point buck
