Alright. Got this chick last saturday at dusk. about a 100 yards with the .308. at dusk.

I know it doesnt seem like much management but it's what we're shooting right now.

Since they have such a good buck to doe ratio(1:1) almost every eligible doe gets knocked up.  So if you have a legal quota of bucks and does to take care of for the year youve gotta shoot some to keep the population in check and off the road.  If we shoot a doe then the fawns will die in the winter so we shoot the fawns first. If it is a single fawn generally mom comes back and we can get her too. this time there were twins so momma didnt stick around to see why this one took a dive after that loud bang.

8.5kilos after the gut

"Right now, I am thinking that If my grandmother was here, she would be lecturing me about how there are poor people in Africa, that would just love to have a Ruger, I would just say "Great, granny, lets just ship all the Rugers to Africa!"

Loving life in the Great Northwest one day at a time.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

The cool thing with that is you can put it in the glove box or under the seat of your car and go do the rest of your errands for the day.  That way, you don't have to waste a trip home - just head to the grocery store, whatever passes for a Costco or whatever you have to do.  No one will even know that you have it.   :chuckle:

What kind of deer is that?  Doesn't look like a Roe deer.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Put it in a sandwich bag so that you don't get blood on your little pocket on the side of your pants when you put it in there next to your rangefinder.

Did you kill that thing with that knife as it fed out of your hand????  :bdid:

Maybe it jumped in front of the monster buck you took aim on right as you squeezed the trigger? Did you have a fanny pack on to put it in for the pack out?

But it is.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

 :yeah:

I'm flipping you crap for that deer above and not serious at all.  (I was just reading another thread where someone was talking about how posts can come out not as intended.)  You explained the circumstances behind shooting that thing and it's pretty cool that you were able to hunt in Europe.

The deer in Germany are small not to mention the fawns. Once while out on a traing excersize a game warden came up to use to see if we had seen any deer as he was managing the forest. He showed us one that he took about an hour prior and he had the entire deer in a large cooler in the back of his VW Golf.
Yes they are small. But congrats on passing the test to be able to hunt there!!!
