Traegar Recipes?
« on: November 01, 2009, 09:08:44 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has the pleasure of using a Traegar.  I have one for about a year now and use it 2-3 times per week, I have a few good recipes and would like to trade some with other folk.

My dad has had one for many years and loves his too, my brother got one for his bday and his wife feels the same way. I know what ya mean, they rock! Someday I will hopefully get one, but I am hooked on the smoker I built last year.

I've had one for about 6 years, hellava BBQ. Beef brisket smoked for 12-14 is amazing. I got a "Treager" cookbook with mine, good recipes in there..

Brisket is awesome on the Traegar, pulled pork is probably my favorite.  Find a good Bone in Boston Butt.  Slather it in Mustard and put on your favorite rub, I like the traegar cajun rub or the pork rub.  Put your traegar on smoke and let it go for around 15 hours until the pork reaches 195.  Normally pork is done at 160 but by taking your fatty boston butt to 190 you get a fall off the bone tender and awesome piece of pork. Pull it, or chop it and serve on a bun with either a barbeque sauce or a vinegar mustard sauce.  My favorite is the vinegar sauce.

Also try cooking a Papa Murphies pizza on the Traegar. Set it on High and cook for exactly 14 minutes.  Authentic wood fired pizza, it is amazing!

Another favorite of mine on the traegar is meat loaf.  Use at least 3lbs of ground beef,  the bigger the loaf the better it will turn out.  Use your favorite meat loaf recipe and form into a breadloaf shaped mass.  I normally put mine on medium for about an hour, top with ketchup and mustard then turn to high to finish.  Cook until the internal temp is 160.  I use beef onions, eggs, bread crumbs and cheese, it turns out awesome with a nice smoke ring.

A crowd favortie at my house is Atomic Buffalo Turds.  They are Jalepeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese, little smokies, wrapped in bacon and smoked for 3 hours.  If you guys want more details let me know.
