Early Rut this year?
« on: October 30, 2009, 12:20:43 AM »
Man I keep hearing of stinky bucks killed and I have seen a bunch of pics with swollen necks. Did that cold spell a week before the opener kick them into an early rut this year or what?  :dunno:

They were just starting when we left Sunday, most of the bucks I saw were not ready yet. I think the late hunt guys are going to hit it perfect in the Methow.

saw a nice buck yesterday and his neck was swollen , he was walking a road at noon. went out this morning and saw i think the same buck , got to see the side view of him and hes about a 14-15'' spike. has to be an old throw back buck. no does with him but he was within 200yds of yesterday.

Same here in the Okanogan country as the past 5 years.  Once the general pressure is over they start appearing, weather or not.

same here... hunted most of the modern season with my multi and saw no rut activity just tons of does and button bucks with their mommys... hopefully a few of the buck fawns i saw will survive the redneck beer hunters

I just about took out nice buck this morning on my way to work, he had his nose up a does butt.  He was just outside of Eatonville.

Yesterday we saw 15 deer.only got a good look at 9 of them(all does). One decent buck by himself but couldn't get a shot off. Went back in ther today and only saw one deer. He was by himself and Zack put him down. Not swollen at all and just a bit stinky.
I hope when I die my wife doesn't sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

I've seen 5 bucks since Monday, and every one was with does, and wouldn't let the does get more than 5 or 10 ft. away. Seems about the same as last year to me.
