cougars in duvall
« on: October 30, 2009, 12:16:26 PM »
just got an email from my wife who got an email from her friend that there was 3 cougars seen in almost downtown Duvall this morning. 3rd and Stephens for those of you who know the town.
the police were called and they didn't see anything.
not sure where it went beyond that.

i suspect there will be several more than normal lost dog/cat signs hanging on telephone poles in duvall in the next few weeks.

they have always come down into town this time of year. Grew up there. Why does it surprise that people who live there an in other areas of the foothills are surprise to see them in town. they used to live where all the yuppy houses are. Now they are in your back yards. There has always been a problem with cougs in the valley. The day after they banned dogs for them a guy in carnation shot 2 in his yard going after his wife an kids. The police there never have been able to catch up with them. Officer Sanders just hands out flyers like the rest of the officer there and it is no surprise to them.

snowman is right(not sure about the yuppy house part. i sure don't have a yuppy house  :) )...they've been there forever.
there was a female killed a few years ago in town and her cubs were orphaned. i think they are in some zoo back east somewhere now. every couple years now this happens. there's lots of woods and forest right on the edge of town...lots of bears, lots of cougars, lots of deer...hell there's deer on 3rd and in my neighborhood every day.

maybe i need to put up a treestand in my cul de sac.

We used to see them all the time at cherry valley elm, just east of it where the house are now when I was a kid going to school there. For some reason they used to love the field just across from the school where the church is. Got some friends there that have problems with them every year around this time going after their horses. We had are horses almost became food a little while back just up behind the fair grounds in monroe. They also have problems with bears in between duvall an carnation every year.
