3 BT bucks in 2 days
« on: October 31, 2009, 11:33:17 AM »
We had hunted very hard all season and it finally paid off. I was on my way to a neighbors house where I have access to the suburb deer hunting when I spotted a spike in another neighbor's yard. The old guy wanted me to take one in his yard so he would feel a part of it and I could share the meat. No problem! I arrowed the spike and hit it a bit high but he ran to a rather convenient place for me - my back yard! I boned him out right there and got 53 lbs of meat. Healthy yearling! Within 3 hours of cutting, all the steaks and roasts were in the freezer. I took pics and will probably do a 'how to bone-out your deer' posting later.

The next day, my neighbor went up and got him a big 3 point. He called me for help and I gladly obliged. I've been very nice to him because of access across his property to the hill. Plus the fact that I'm a nice guy anyway (sometimes just when I want to be though :chuckle:).

Anyway, later that day my son went up and he called me saying he had shot a large 3 point - his biggest yet. He was so ecstatic and I was thrilled to hear his excitement over the phone. I was busy at the time but got up there a couple hours later to help. He was only supposed to gut it but he was bored and started boning it out. I wanted to bring it home whole so his mother and sister could see it. They get so proud of him!.

I think my son worked and hunted a bit too hard. A day later he fell asleep behind the wheel on the way to work. He is fine but had a little bleeding in the brain. They say it will go away and he will be fine. We are thanking God he is still alive and not hurt badly. Only had to have his head and knee stitched up. I am told that his truck is virtually destroyed. Some say it is hard to believe a person could live through it after they saw his truck. I haven't seen it yet. I'm just happy to have my son right now. One thing he said to me in ICU last night was "I'm just happy I got my deer first".

Do you think he is hooked on hunting?

Pictures are of: my buck, my neighbors buck, my son's buck.

Nice job Axle. I haven't heard from you lately. I am glad your son is okay and you filled your deer tag. Give me a call, maybe go bear hunting.

Hunting aside, Glad to hear that your son is going to be okay. That was probably quite a scare, one I hope I will never have to go through.

And nice bucks

OK, I have truck pics. He hit the white car and the Nissan truck 'was' his. We quickly signed over the title after paying some hefty towing and storage fees.

Also, in my neighbors buck we found two pellets from a pellet rifle. Somebody had been shooting him for some reason. My guess is it was a kid for which I would love to see the youngster go through hunters ed. Or (more likely) it was a grown up who didn't want the deer in their yard eating on their pretty little shrubs and grass. To this person I would I would say 'get out of the country and get your ass back in the city where it belongs'. And the pellets....well, I could think of something to do with them too......

Oh my!

Got to love the safety of today's cars.

Much older cars and ya might have yourself a couple of DOAs.

Wow, what a roller coaster of events.

I drive back and forth Snohomish, Spokane. Nearly weekly.
Most of the time I drive late at night with no problems.

Last weekend, I was beat down.
Had to take a 90 hour nap at vantage, and another 90 min nap at cabin creek and still was not recharged.
Made it back  here just in time to go to work.
Had I tried to push it I might have crashed my truck.
Not sure why I was so tired, but ya can't be afraid to pull off for even a 10 min nap.

Nice Bucks... and Congrats!

Glad to hear your son is ok, we had a similar thing happen a few years back, and we still pray thanks for him only getting 7 stitches... he rolled is car on I-90 (4 flips) and spun across all the lanes with traffic.. witnesses said he should have never lived.

Again Congrats!
