Trail cam baits( Another question)
« on: October 31, 2009, 02:12:00 PM »
What do you guys use for bait? Is there a better kind of apple over others? I have been using a mineral lick, just green apples and a cracked corn from the feed store.

I have used cmere deer in Oregon on Columbian whitetail with really good results. Even had a doe eat a 1inch diamiter oak branch about 3 feet long with leaves and small branches. There was nothing left, kept her about 10 yards from us the whole time with us talking and laughing.  :lol4:

For those of you who use apples. Has anyone used store bought apples? They are getting pretty scarce this time of year in the orchard, so I was wondering if anyone has bought them and if they notice any difference? I went into the grocery store and they had 5lb. bags on sale for $3 so I bought 5 bags to give them a try.  :dunno: We'll see if they work.

good place of getting some apples for free is local food banks, just ask them if they have any rotten or getting close to rotting produce, most of the time there happy to get rid of it

That's a good idea, I was just kinda wondering if any of the chemicals that they put on store bought apples would effect the deers appetite.
