I couldnt make it up there for the opener but I heard stories about 250 to 300 head running together.  They said it covered the whole canyon and there were at least 17 spikes in the herd.  Ive seen big groups of elk but thats a big herd.
Yeah but at least it will eat good...

we see that every few years up there... usually they're down pretty low and you can tell where they are or "were" from the volley of gunshots.

I haven't heard about it this year though.

you are hearing stories, although they did heard up a bit.
