My bro's West Wenaha bull

For those of you who told me "you better be in the best shape of your life" or "you better get horses" to hunt the West Wenaha tag, well, you were RIGHT! This is my brother Mike's Wenaha bull. He shot it two and half miles from the trailhead, down in a sheer canyon and it was just the two of us! By the time the boning and caping was complete, the rain, snow, and sideways wind had hit. The first trip up, my brother was literally climbing on his hands and knees at times packing the head and cape out. Shot at 9 am, we got to the trailhead at 6:30 pm with the first pack of meat and the cape/head. We left 3 more bags of meat on the ridgetop for the next day. We woke to 12 inches of snow in the morning! We chained up, plowed our way to the trailhead, then plowed our way out the trail (when we could find it!) to retrieve our bags. What should have been packed in two more trips, we did in one. I didn't know Mike could pack that much! This hunt was about as physically demanding as I've ever experienced, challenged by the wilderness steepness and the wind and snow. But I wouldn't change a thing! This is the best bull my brother will likely ever take, and the most memorable hunt I've ever been on with him. I'm so thankful I got to be a part of it. Thanks to all of you who helped with advice early on, especially to Bucklucky. You guys are great!

Very nice bull! Way to get it done. The cold weather must have helped out with saving the meat with a pack out like that.
