A good day at the widgeon hole!
« on: October 31, 2009, 06:43:09 PM »
We went out to our widgeon hole today and did....ok...I guess. We had flocks in the hundreds landing just out of our spread. And when I say just out, I mean 15-20 feet. We didnt feel comfortable shooting at that range because of the risk of wounding the birds. But it did insure me that I have a lot of patience. But over all it was great. And just watching flocks in those numbers cupped with their landing gear down, only 10-40 yards away, was simply amazing!!!!!!

Nice job guys!
This is off topic and maybe should have started a new post anyone get there spread busted by latecomers today? I had a great start then it got ruined by group after group of late hunters. Even had one group try to set up 30 yards in front of me? I thought we waterfowlers were better then that?

well if it were me, I'd go for SeaDuck because I've never gone and I'd like to get a couple mounts!

but if I already had my mounts and wanted the meat, probably the Mallards for shere size!

Yep, its the salt. But you dont have to hunt the salt to harvest a ton of Widgeon. There are crap loads of them in my valley right now. Im sure if you did a day of scouting your area, you could find a good Widgeon hole for the rest of the season.

live in pierce county so in my area most of the land is private and people are stingy on giving permission
