DANG....river dumpings this time of year are no fun.   I went in once chasing a cat in one of your locals with snow shoes on.  I broke the snow bridge, that was hairy. LOL

Went in ice fishing one time. I sat there trying to get out until i couldn't move anymore. My friend heard me screaming and came to help. Good thing he was there i would have froze to death. He helped me to a nearby house and the guy gave me a ride home. He made me ride in the back of his pickup! Looking back i should have gone to the hospital. I soaked in the tub and then in my bed for the rest of the day. It was not fun.

Great find Mulehunter... Keep it up, you'll see that cat yet.

Mulehunter is pissin me off!  :chuckle:

I've got that boot Cougar permit! I just can't get time to get over there.  :bash:

On the fallin in the chilly water I can attest that it sux! Been there did that. As a kid I fell in a frozen pond while ice skating once. Every time I tried to get back out of the water the ice would break, I just kept going toward shore that way, breaking, then I could finally get on top and out. I ran all the way home. Warm shower! Then warm bath to get my body temp back up. I probably should have gone to the hospital too. I was shivering for even the next day.

I'd hate to fall in a flowing body of water this time of year. That's down right dangerous! Friend of mine fell in the Nooksack one late buck season. It was snowing on us then. Friggin cold in and out of the water. I got him out of the water and built a fire and heated some soup with my stove right there. He was cold for the rest of that whole three days we hunted. Those wintry water temps just take the body heat right out of you!

Heres one I found this deer season!   Came back 3 times before leaving it for good!  Started by eating part of the hind quarter and liver. Then neck, and then finally other hind and ribs...Birds got the backstraps!

A buddy of mine was deer hunting last week and shot a deer with his bow just before dark.  They tracked it that night but didn't have any luck find the deer so they returned the next morning.  Got on the blood trail and couldn't find anything, after passing the same location three times he saw part of an ear sticking out from underneath some ferns and then saw part of the deer head.  The entire deer was buried and covered with ferns and dirt. He pulled out his cell phone to video tape it and got hissed at by the cat, he was in real thick reprod so you couldn't more than 6 or 7 feet ahead of you, the cat kept making noises but he couldn't see it but figured it was about 6 feet from him so he pulled out his pistol and shot a stump in the direction of the cat.  He unburied the deer and nothing was eaten yet, only bite marks on the neck.  Pretty damn scary, good thing you can carry a pistol with you now when archery hunting.

Been dunked a couple of times.  Both times in the Colville River, back home.  Both times jump shooting ducks.  Both times trying to get the dog up the steep river bank with a duck in it's mouth.  Once broke through the ice, once slipped off a cottonwood log.  Almost died the first time (single didgit temps), second time was not as touch-and-go.  First incident when I was about 16, second time when I was about 30.  I think there's probably a lesson there... but I can't figure it out... :chuckle:
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
