First Duck of the Season!
« on: November 01, 2009, 12:51:39 AM »
Hey guys,
I had a business meeting this morning in Quincy and I figured that I went that far, I may as well throw my shotgun in the truck and see if I can get a duck...and it seems that I had my first success of the season!  I was jump shooting as I don't have a dog and came up with this one.  Hopefully there are going to be more to follow!

business mtg in Quincy, are you in Tech?

That's a great looking bird. I was in potholes a couple weeks ago, the monday after the opener, and everything was a mile high... blue bird skies.  :bash:

Nope, not in tech.  I work for the Boy Scouts of America.  We just had a meeting that was central to all of our area.  The weather was crazy when I was out, it was so windy that it looked like a duststorm, very poor visibility.  I just happened to sneak up on this one and got her when she took off to fly away.

looks tastey regardless!

I always make the mistake of giving away a ton of my meat, salmon, etc when I first get it thinking I won't like it and it will go to waste, only to start craving it about 2 months after the season is over and i'm out of meat!

Congrats!!  Thats a unique bird. Not by species of course. But how young it is this late in the year. It must have been a really late hatch. And still a very cool drake widg. Keep up the good work Bro!
