Anyone own a Bushnell trophy cam??
« on: November 02, 2009, 07:05:32 PM »
I am really am intrigued with this trail camera.  I like the fact that it is only 4"x6".  Does anyone have one, if so, how do you like it???

I have one and really like it, I set it to do a three picture burst so I quit getting just the nose or butt and have got a lot of great pictures day and night.  Set up is key, put something out for them to eat or just slow them down and you will get great pictures.

I recently bought three cameras, two BTCs and one Reconyx RC60HO.  I wanted to do a comparison and see how the BTC stacks up against the Reconyx.  IMO, for the money the BTC is a nice camera.  I like the night photos better than the Reconyx.  Although the day photos have more resolution I do not care for the red tinge in the photo.  Photoshop will take care of that though.  The camera is fast which is nice on game trails.  The size of it is probably what I like best.  Its compact size makes it easy to conceal plus packing it to and fro is nice also.  If you decide to get one I highly recommend getting the Bear box for it too.  My first image was a bear that did not like the camera mounted on a stump and tried to do it in.  The box saved the day, or cam I should say. :chuckle:

As for components and build quality you get what you pay for.  When I first got the BTC the switch used for settings and arming the camera was tight.  It was easy to feel when the switch was moved from the off position to the settings position (middle).  After using these cameras for a month the switch is much looser now and not quite as easy to feel when the switch is moved to the middle position.

When I bought the cameras I was told that after the 2 year warranty expires should the BTC require fixing it may or may not worth it.  In which case I was told to consider it a throw away camera.

Still, all said I think it's worth the modest price as these little cameras have their niche and a couple of them will always be in my bag.

Thanks guys.  I can purchas them for around $150 with the view screen NEW.  With what i have seen and your comments, I don't think I can beat the value.  Maybe I will treat myself to an early christmas present.

I also have a Bushnell. First trail cam for me. I have a couple pics under Ellensburg Bull. This is not a expensive camera by any means. But quality pics for what i paid for. Easy to use. Day or night.. Nice pics. They defiantly are worth the cost. Lots of good info, if you get them up and running a week or two preseason. All you need next is a irresistible receipt. Great topic, Happy Hunting....Warberg
