was hurting pretty bad after hiking for hours with a pinched sciatic nerve at S1
(makes hunting a challenge fer sure.)
I found a nice clump of trees with an inviting log bordering the one side, so i sat m fat butt down on it, looked down at my shoes and there it was, a Buck shed. big ole spike too for the colockum.

Yeah, actually finding a spike is the hardest shed to find! I hardly have any spike sheds, mostly 3x stuff or bigger...you can see these from a distance.
Congrats! And yes, it is addicting.

My first shed was a spike too, a little tiny one that looked like a cork screw. Nice find!

yeah, getting my brother excited to know the animals do shed up top on the hill kind of sucked, he found that 6X Elk antler in the spot i was walking when i had to go up top above the treeline to say goodbye to my other buddy Nick.
I would have walked right into that one.
I was looking for pointy things sticking up (from studying all the posts here on fallen sheds and the way they lay about.).
I looked constantly the whole time i walked anywhere and even made extra steps towards ALOT of friggin antler sticks lol!
I hope i can find an elk shed this time, we are heading into a different area on the ridge and all new lumber to peer and stare at hehe! (or trip over).
Its hard for me to walk on hard surfaces let alone in the hills, i can barely move my left leg forwards and backwards having the bulging disc pressing on the main nerve root going down my leg.
ALOT of hApPy
pills get me through the tough hikes.
I friggin hate living on medicine. but it is what it is.

I always look for sheds, but only have found 3 so far.
First shed i ever found was a 5 point elk shed. I found it while driving dwn the road. It was only 50 yards from a camp, in an open grassy area in plane site
The other two a 3 point muley sheds, One was found in March on a hike in the Umtaum Unit and the other was found on opening day of deer season this year up in the Entiat Unit.
My dog did find a spike deer shed in March and is now a chew toy.

I am thinking of mounting these both on the same plaque somehow commemorating my first elk season actually hunting.
