Elk hunting with grandfather
« on: November 03, 2009, 09:48:36 AM »
I'm going over elk hunting with my gradfather today he has a cow permit 342 I think.  I'm going just to go I have filled my archery elk tag.  I'm bringing my video gear to film him shoot one we hope.  his camp has 3 cow tags this year.  The guys in camp have been seeing elk everyday so far just no spikes yet.  hopfully we can get it done and put a few on the ground.
I wanted to know could I carry my rifle along for bear hunting or would it cause a problem with the game warden if he checked us.  I don't think it would look good from his point of view.  I have no plans on shooting an elk with out a tag is there a law against having a weapon on person with out a elk tag during elk season?

If you have a valid bear tag, you should be fine to carry a rifle.  I do the same when hunting with my buddy who has modern, and I have muzzleloader tag.

They may question you but if you are not in any illegal activity they can not site you for bear hunting with a valid tag. The game wardens in Kittitas county are pretty laid back, or maybe that is only because I am a local! :chuckle: Just be truthful with them and you shouldn't have a problem.

good luck to you guys,if you have a bear tag and the season is open which it is i don't think they can touch you. because it says in the hunting book that you may not be in the field during any big game hunting seasons with a gun over .24 cal unless you have a tag for a big game animal that has a season open for it at the time you are in the field. :twocents:
