Just curious...opinions needed

I'm looking into getting another lab, so my other one can have a play mate and hunting buddy.  The dog I have now is a 14 month male lab, (not neutered, we plan on using him as a  stud), but we are thinking of maybe getting a female this time.

Has anyone dealt with having a male and then bringing in a female and trying to train her.  does the male still hunt as well or is the female more of a distraction? Would having two males be better?

If we get a female, she would be spade just so we dont have to worry about puppies and keeping them seperated during heat cycles.

Just lookin for some input/opinions as to what you guys would do or have experienced!

I had a male choc. lab about the same age as your male and brought in a female lab pup. I had 0 problems but also did not hunt the female. We only took the male on hunting trips and he was the best damn hunting dog I ever had. Both dogs were very well trained just the female didn't hunt. Both were AKC Reg. with very good bloodlines so we bred the two and had a couple of litters of pups two years apart and then had her spayed.

Her first litter was perfect...4 pups. (we were not into it for money or running a puppy mill)  The second litter...... :yike:....12 pups. OMG I like little lab pups as much as the next person .....but not 12.  :bash: It all worked out fine though.

I do not know how having two males would be. Good luck.

Wifes dog. Keeps her company when I'm hunting. At least that's what she said before we got divorced........X-wife now.
