Fine looking rams. Let's get some stories on here.

Wow, very cool, congrats to the father son duo!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Ok, so here's the story.....

We hunted from the top of Clemans on the Tuesday opener.  We rode quads from the bottom of Milk Canyon and parked 11 miles from camp.  It's no joke that the big boy was the very first ram that we layed eyes on.  Initially, we found them bedded at 400+ yards.  It took a quick peek through the spotting scope to confirm that he was a shooter (like 2 seconds) and we were on the move to circle around the knob where they were bedded.  As we eased over the ridge for a shot, we found that 8 muley does were running interference on us.  They had spooked the ram and his ewes and they were up and on the move.  We kept moving down the ridge and were blown away to find the ram quartering away slowly at 30 yards.  Our hunter put the first shot through his front shoulder and a second through the neck.  Done deal.  Here we were, ready for a 300+ shot and he gives us a broadside look so close that Coach could have stuck an arrow through him.  I hope he kills a pig.

I only had Tuesday to help these guys out and couldn't stick around for the Wednesday hunt.  That  morning, they hunted from the bottom of the hill and looked at the 2nd ram for 20 minutes at 75 yards before deciding that he was a shooter.  One shot from 200 yards was all it took and everybody cringed and held their breath as he rolled 13 times down the hill before stopping.

It was an excellent hunt and I was lucky to be a part of it.

Nice Rams, I am so fricken jealous, why can't i draw this tag :bash:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Love the side by side shots, really shows the difference between a great ram and a nice ram.  Thanks for posting them up, I'd love either one, hopefully one day that tag is mine!

Awesome story 300short.  I had been watching both rams and had sent a picture of the big one to coach telling him it would score 172.  I guess I was off by 2/8ths...  ;)
