goldeneye success

brother got his fisrt goldeneye and it was a great looking drake
i also shot two ducks yesterday morning
just wondering how many people get these around the area

havent seen any golden eye, probably cause i have only been out twice this season.

any pics of the birds?

very nice drake bufflehead at the top!!! and I can see the drake goldeneye on the left starting to get its color! way cool! I see a lot of both these species over on the Columbia River where I hunt most of the time in North Central Washington.

If I shoot another bufflehead that looks that good I would like to have a mount done. Those birds have a lot more color than the photos captured. BTW I didn't kill these recently.

didnt have the camera but we plan to mount the goldeneye at peters taxidermy
they do great mounts

That's true. I agree with all you said. Although I would shoot another one for a mount. They were a little trouble getting cleaned and skinned. They also decoy really well.

Yes they swarm. However I have seen more surf scoters out on the salts than any other duck.

dont have a big enough boat to go out on the salt so our access is pretty limited
looks like a lot of fun though
trying to look for a spot to hunt on the hood canal and i have no problem taking the float tube out after them
