Late Deer/Elk Muzzleloader Seasons
« on: November 22, 2009, 07:17:59 PM »
Did anybody notice that the muzzleloader deer season starts a day after the muzzleloader elk season this year ???

I don't believe it's ever been that way. What would be the reason for the different opening dates? I'm wondering if it's a mistake and deer season was supposed to open the same day as elk on the 25th.

Doesn't really make a difference to me this year, as I only have a muzzleloader elk tag. But next year I may go with muzzleloader for both deer and elk.

I saw that today while looking at the regs.  I didn't think anything of it because I don't muzzle load, but am interested in getting into it for next year.

some other tings are strange. our general season in gmu 133 starts on the 25th but mut my permit for the same area starts on the 26th. no chance to tag out on the first day. I wonder if it is an economic issue for the areas. the longer the hunter is therem, the more $ he will spend. I dunno

Remember when they were changing seasons lasy year? They made some changes and all the uproar from the MLs for late season elk. Well they changed the elk back but they forgot to change the deer back a day. During the scoping they took 2 weeks from the late season and they had it starting on thanksgiving, well they set the elk back to the normal start date same season we have always had but they didn't move the deer 1 day.
