Whether he is a straight up muley or a hybrid, it is a trophy for sure.  Great pics and story.  Thanks for sharing

Great buck!!  As for the antlers, well, they are antlers.  They don't always follow the norms.  There are both mulies and whitetails in the Repuplic area and it's possible that there has been some cross-breeding.  Most whitetail-muley crosses I've seen in Colorado have hide coloration overlaps as well.  A muley with long brow tines and an odd colored tail, or facial coloration variations.  This buck looks like pure muley though from the photo.

Here's my 2009 blacktail with a similar antler configuration.  He was a clean 3x3 with no brow tines last year.  This year he just added another tine off the mainbeam on the left side.  It's not all that uncommon, really.

Then throw in the fact that that deer has a horn growing off his hoof. I say hes a non-typical!!

Ha!  Those are my rattling antlers (2007 sheds from a buck I was hunting).  My goal was to rattle him in with his own antlers.  Kinda creepy  :chuckle:

I wouldn't have hesitated to shoot that buck, unless my girls beat me to it.  I love hunting mulies and the country they live in.  Congrats!

That's a great buck Bow4 and I dig the antlers.  This buck was all mule deer like you said.  No complaints here as this is the buck of my lifetime...so far.  I appreciate everyone throwing in thier  :twocents:.  Thanks all it was a great hunt and great to have my Dad and bro right there with me.
