3 days 3 bucks
« on: November 08, 2009, 01:20:43 AM »
This was a great modern deer season for me. I enjoyed the season by taking out 3 guys all filling there tags. The first picture is a buddy of mine that has juvenile diabetes and worked his tail off opening morning to harvest this buck. The second picture my buddy and I went out on an evening hunt after school, luck has it the first place we looked this buck was in it. The problem was it was the nastiest, deepest and steepest draw on the whole ranch that he shot it in. The spread is 22 inchest wide and 24 inches tall. The third picture is a friend of mine that I found out got ditched all week by a guy that was suppose to take him out for his first hunt ever. He has never hunted a day in his life and was eager to harvest a deer. I had the chance to take him out on the last day of the season and find a buck for him. About 45 minutes before dark we spotted a buck and watched him from about 800 yards away praying to find a 3rd point on him to be legal. I was sold that he was a bald 2 point untill the buck turned his head slightly to one side in his bed and i noticed the curved eyeguards on each side that were impossible to see head on. we put a stalk on him and he took an amazing shot at 350 yards down hill through the boiler room. He was shooting a 30-06 that had been handed down from his great grandpa to his grandpa to his dad and now he was able to follow the tradition by harvesting his first deer with the rifle. I think i was just as excited about it as he was shooting his first deer it was a hell of a hunt!

Great job as a guide.  Lots of satisfaction I bet from what you did for others.

Awesome deer, I love the part about the last hunt where the rifle has been passed down through generations, that was great to read. Congrats to you for helping those guys out...

Thanks for sharing your success! I also loved the 30-06 story, my first gun was also an 06 that was passed down, kinda refreshing to hear those stories, seems like now everybody has to shoot the latest and greatest gun, but that's proof that you can get it done with almost any gun if you prepare

Great job on the guiding.  Its pretty satisfying to take someone out who has never hunted before and watch them bag their first deer.  Its a great feeling.  Congrats!

What a great way to enjoy a season you did not even have a tag for. As a fellow outdoorsman and hunter THANK YOU for taking these guys out  . It is awesome that they all got deer but the fact you were willing to take them out is really cool. We need more of that in our ranks as outdoorsmen.

thanks guys this has definatly been the greatest season for me yet. i had a great archery season, and then took my cousin out for his last muzzleloader deer hunt before he left for the marines, he also harvested a nice 4x4. both him and the buddy that shot his first buck made my year, definitly will be one of my most memorable hunts!!
