Fishing Bloopers
« on: January 04, 2008, 10:37:23 AM »
The post below made me think of some funny times on fishing trips I've had, here's a couple:

Used to fish a lot in High School with a friend and his 6'5" dad, who would sit back in his boat chair and casually lean over an yank your line while trolling, sending you into a frenzy. One time he did that at Hart's lake, I grapped the rod and yanked as hard as I could and pulled the damn boat swivel chair right out of the floor and flipped over backward's. Funny stuff.
One other trip with two guys I played ball with right after High School graduation we went up to Silver lake and had three 200lb guys in a little rowboat. I was rowing at the time, but the bad part was the other two were a little sauced and kept goofing off in the boat. I kept telling them to sit down and knock it off, though it was a nice day, around 80 degrees or so. Finally, we're on our way back to the dock, with about 50 people fishing off the dock when numbnut's #2 stand's up in the boat and we flipped over faster than greased lightning. All I know is somehow my buddies rapala with three trebble's ended up stuck to my arse while I'm swimming around trying to pick stuff up out of the water. Worst part was his car keys sank to the bottom and we had to wait for a ride from his girlfriend for two hours, but got a standing "O" from the fishermen on the dock who witnessed it. Not one of my best moment's.

as a flyfisherman who once had to learn how to cast a fly rod along with some friends all around the same time...the list of bloopers is potentially endless.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I wanted to say also, that was the first and last time I fished with those guys, I never go out fishing or hunting without my faculties intact.

Dman,

Your not alone having dumb ass friends.  :chuckle:

Almost all of mine were/are still.  While I was stationed in Albuquerque NM I went to some small lake on a fishing trip with a couple friends and a pretty big cooler full of beer and Boone's farm. :puke:  all in a 14 ft aluminum boat from the base Outdoor Rec. Started drinking and the contests began. Longest cast got going and I went for the gold but my bail tripped. Man, that lure went about 150 yards but the tip of the followed for about 60.... Friends were rolling, so much so that one of them knocked the cooler over the side. Our refreshments went to the bottom and our sandwiches looked like catfish jugs all over the place.  :iamwithstupid:
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or destroy it, piss on it and walk away!
