Wolf Tracks in My Honey Hole
« on: November 09, 2009, 09:10:00 PM »
Got foiled by the weather and wolves. Hunted my honey hole east of Sullivan Lake for deer, didn't see the one I wanted, but I had a great time scouting for elk. I had two bulls bugling at me when I cow called to them, so I was pretty optimistic about the elk opener. Dropped into the area opening day for elk, 6 inches of snow and things were looking really good. Until, all I found were wolf tracks, three of them running the gated roads and drainages, and of course, no elk sign at all. The next day I moved 9 nautical miles to Harvey Creek and found wolf track there also, again, no elk sign. Needless to say, tag soup for elk this year, seems like they all moved out of 113. I saw one hanging in a camp in 111 and that was it. Everyone I talked to wasn't getting into them either. When is WDFW and the state going to admit that there are more than 2 wolf packs in Washington? The sooner the better, I want a tag for one.

Don't wait for them to give out tags, It will be too late by then for the animals that we all care about. These wolves are non native to this area, just like the weeds stuck to the bottom of your boat in some places. SSS

Time for a new area sounds like
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

They will just work there way around the entire state and it wont take long, of course i mean years but it will be in our lifetime. SSS, that's how they took care of the wolves to begin with.
