Spreadin my genes
« on: November 10, 2009, 09:17:25 AM »
I maybe a two point, but I am getting it done.

Now..........he normally isn't what I'd classified as an old buck, but I htink I have photgraphs of this guy last year and he was a 4 point.  I need to research.  He was blind in one eye, and he had some old attributes.  He was a fighter with only two points and bigger bucks running around. his bones had  fresh chips of of two of the points.   He chased off a couple threes and even a 4.

I'd rather see a big buck with lots of points doing the breeding. Guess the bright side is the doe will be a busy mother next spring.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I think he was a 4 last year.  In this pic, you'll note the ear.  I swear I photographed a 4 point withthe exact ear within 50 yards of this spot last year.  Not saying he is an old recessive buck, thats what I meant in the first comment, just I think he backslid this year.  He sure had the attitude.  I photogrpahed 3 return bucks in this spot this year and I think all three were smaller than last year.   :dunno:

My two beats your two, GET LOST.

So I was filming this guy and I swear I hear a wheeze (snort wheeze without the snort) down the hill.  I was just there and glassed it, but I thought I heard it.  I kept taking pics, then I heard it again.  OH FINE, so I rapped up and went and did a big circle around and sure enough...found another set of bucks.   COOL!  Those pics in a bit.

He definately looks like a muture older deer in that last pic. I witnessed the "Ritual" at my uncles place in CleElum. All the deer from the surrounding area would winter up near his 14 acres on top of Hidden Valley Ranch back in the 80's and 90's. It wasn't uncommon to see 100 deer with 25 4-5 point bucks in a small area. I witnessed several breeding bucks and does but this one stood out in my mind.....There was a 2 point , 3 point and a 4 point breeding this one doe, each taking his turn when the other was tired out  :chuckle: Once the 4 pt was "done" the 3 point would hop on, then when he was "done' the 2 point would hop on and so the cycle would continue until all three had bred her 2 or 3 times (talk about a wetspot"  :chuckle:. All the while this was 10 ft in front of my Bronco with the lights on them, they could have cared less if I was there.

Thats interesting gobble.  I've never seen multiples with deer but watched it a lot this fall with sheep.  All sorts of negative comments came to mind.

I know its just a two point guys, but I liked how this picture turned out.

I noticed a couple monster two points around winthrop this year. They were definitely older deer. That's a whopper- big bodied.

I did Wapiti.  I noted several stabs and thumps.  He had been in a tussle recently
