Snort Wheeze
« on: November 10, 2009, 11:11:48 AM »
I heard it from three bucks yesterday.  First one startled me.  I was focusing on a small four and all of a sudden a snort wheeze directly behind me.  I had no idea this buck had come in.  Walked right by me, too close for a pic.

The second one was a buck I was photographing (see spreading my genes in the phot forum) and heard the third which ended up being this buck down the hill behind me where I just was, with 5 other bucks

Many call a bucksnort when they blow trying to smell.  Does do that just as much as buck, its not a snort.  Also not a grunt......  Its the ultimate form of I am about ready to kick your a$$

dang pervs.... :)
This guy took one in the arse.  He ran off the one above and this one was kinda in the area, feeding, not really interested in the doe.  Well he ventured too close.  I thought the buck was about to mount up and I was heading back down the hill to move on.  I heard a huge commotion and looked up just intime to see the big three connect, ramming this guy with his antlers right in the ole buttocks.  OUCH

there's not a whole lot as cool as a snort weeze on a big rutting whitetail to get him to come to your treestand, especially when he postures the whole way in...

Hey Bone just wonder how common that is to see a 3 point with opposite forks on each side , one forks in back and the otherside forks in the front, neat looking 3 point.

I was up dinkin around in one of my honey holes last year, checking out the big bucks.  I was walking through a thick area when I heard a roar.  It startled me cuz I had never heard that sound in the woods as I got closer I heard it again and it was much louder.  I then spotted the buck that was with an obviously hot doe.  He was at fifty yards and I know he could see me.  He snort wheezed at me three times.  I think he would have kicked my arse if I got any closer, I never knew blacktails where this vocal.  It was one of my most memorable moments in the woods.

That is cool!  I got a big forked horn doing a couple snort-wheezes and 10-15 grunts on video yesterday in Kansas.  He was trying to get an esterous doe moving that had stopped under my stand.  He stomped about 30 times.  Finally she took a step to let him know where she was, and the chase was on.
