Snort Wheeze
« on: November 10, 2009, 11:11:48 AM »
I heard it from three bucks yesterday.  First one startled me.  I was focusing on a small four and all of a sudden a snort wheeze directly behind me.  I had no idea this buck had come in.  Walked right by me, too close for a pic.

The second one was a buck I was photographing (see spreading my genes in the phot forum) and heard the third which ended up being this buck down the hill behind me where I just was, with 5 other bucks

Many call a bucksnort when they blow trying to smell.  Does do that just as much as buck, its not a snort.  Also not a grunt......  Its the ultimate form of I am about ready to kick your a$$

note the stiff gate, bristled hair, ears back sideways posture.  If the subordinate doesn't back off, BOOM

dang pervs.... :)
This guy took one in the arse.  He ran off the one above and this one was kinda in the area, feeding, not really interested in the doe.  Well he ventured too close.  I thought the buck was about to mount up and I was heading back down the hill to move on.  I heard a huge commotion and looked up just intime to see the big three connect, ramming this guy with his antlers right in the ole buttocks.  OUCH

there's not a whole lot as cool as a snort weeze on a big rutting whitetail to get him to come to your treestand, especially when he postures the whole way in...

Ah.. Where's your sense of adventure? Put a few drops of Tinks Estrus on the bill of your hat and move in a little closer!

Great shots, by the way!

Its not a matter of not wanting to be close, but the does tend to not think as kindly of me as the bucks.
