My buddie shot a deer with spots. :yike: He watched the mom get killed by a car so he filled his archery tag. It couldn't have been over 45 pounds

I got a doe tag a few years back in unit 139. I hunted for a half day and didn't see anything so I went to get a bite to eat and headed back out. I finally saw a dry doe and put a fantastic stalk on her. Anyways I closed to 150 or so and let her have it with my 350 Rem Mag. When I got up to the deer I noticed it was a fawn.  :P that thing was so small it fit into my 32 quart cooler when it was all skinned out. Geez. It was a little embarassing but it sure ate good. I'll try to find pics. No idea of the weight, mabe 60 pounds or so gutted. Dunno but it sure was an easy drag.  :chuckle:  :chuckle: Very very tender.

same thing happened to me & my brother once, after he shot we walked to where it dropped and looked for it. I almost stepped on it & picked it up with 1 hand by a hind leg & shouted I found it! :chuckle: was real fuzzy with no spots, we guessed a really late fawn. super good eating though!

A few years ago, I was due to leave for HI for the last week of the early archery season.
Had yet to fill the tag.
Was not sure how my late season would play out, so I decided to take any legal deer that came into range.

I set up to get a nice muley doe working its way toward me.

Problem was a yearling cut ahead of 2 nice mature does it was traveling with.
As they came into view 40 yards out. I thought I had the right one marked.

Perfect shot on the 100 pound deer, but man was i disappointed in myself.

Gets better,

As I make the shot I stand to see these 3 deer being followed by 3 very nice heavy wide bucks.

Man did I blow it.

Ground the whole thing into burger.

Got a nice NOV ID whitetail to make up for it.

I'll never make that mistake again.

All that said.

Years ago they have a double doe seaosn for NE WA. 2 permits.
My mom and brother drew.

We were up hunting the huckleberry area.
Stopped and asked a farmer to hunt his land, he lead us out to where we could set.
On the way we came across the pickup on the road.

These guys were all grins.
They were so happy.

They had shot a deer the size of a lab.. Med lab. 40 pound if that.
Bragging about how they shot all the time, and how they took the deer in the head at about 75 yards.
They were from the Seattle area, had no permission to hunt the guys land.
No lie they gutted it and put it in a large black trash bag, and with one hand lifted it into the back of the toyota.

The farm told them to beat it, and said he did not want to see him around his land again.

That day my mom nailed a huge mature doe, then 3 days later took her 2nd off hand in the neck at 60 yards.

My brother than year took 2.. One shot, deer down. reloaded, 2nd deer stepped into clearing.. deer down.

We had all sorts of meat that year including my 3x...

Good thing family of 3 boys 2 girls.
