Still alive - and bigger rubs
« on: November 11, 2009, 03:35:11 PM »
Tried bowhunting this buck two years ago with no luck. While trying to help my brother find an elk, we stopped in this buck's area and found this very recent rub. Same area as previous ones, but much bigger now. Would love to put up a trail cam to get a look at him.

Yes very familar scenario.  Catching up to that critter will take some luck.  I have a buck I have hunted 3 years in a row.  I just cant catch up to him.

looks like a treestand scenario to me.
is there a scrape line in the area?

There are a few rubs in a line going up an old, grown over road. Too thick for a treestand and the biggest tres aren't big enough for one. Was trying to find a way to stay far enough back to remain undetected... and without giving this location away to other hunters who may be passing near it. Coming up empty so far. Hardest part was when I was hunting it the wind was constantly swirling so I never had a chance.
