Cooke Canyon Training Trip
« on: November 02, 2009, 05:50:50 PM »
Took the pup over to Cooke Canyon for some training today. Planted 10 Chuckar and he was able to find 7 of them. This is the first dog I have trained and it's very rewarding to get out and do some training over live birds. One of the birds was out in the open and froze as the dog came up on him. He went on point face to face with the bird and I about fell over laughing. It would have been a priceless picture.

I highly recommend Cooke Canyon if you are looking for a place to take a dog for training or just want to get out and hunt with an experienced dog. They have been great to work with and provided a ton of help along the way.

Cheers!

You did good, I was there a week ago, got 4 roosters, had my little ones with me, it was definately a great day in the field, even though we weren't hunting "wild" birds.  I like that place and need to get over there more often.
