Burris Landmark spotting scope

Hi,

Does anyone own a Burris Landmark?   If so, how well does it work for you?  I've got $200-$300 I'd like to use on a new spotting scope.  Currently, I'm considering the 60mm or 80mm model.  I realize that this price point will get me into the lower range of scopes.  Also, any other recommendations for a scope in this price range would be much appreciated.?

garbage.  I bought the 20-60X80 about 4 years ago and just sold it for 80.00.  Worked ok up to about 30X.  But even on the low power it wasn't very clear.

mt.biker, I won one a few years ago at a banquet (20-60x80).  I already own 2 top of the line spotters, so I really had no use for it.  However, I left it setup on a tripod at my parents house for them to use.  I visited a few times and used it and was actually pretty impressed at the quality for the price.  Much better than any of the Leupold Wind River Sequoia's in my opinion.  I think it would be a good scope for the money you have to spend.  If I had 200-300 to spend though on the best bang for your buck, I'd go with the Konus 20-60-x80.  Under 200 and very nice for the money involved.  Again, in my own opinion, either go with the top of the line (Swarovski, Zeiss, Leica, Leupold Gold Ring) or go with a 200-300 Burris or Konus.  The scopes in the middle of the line aren't worth it.

I used a burris Landmark for a couple of years. It was a POS. I traded it off.
In the twilight when I could still see well with my binos and rifle scope the burris was useless.

I had one for a while. I left it setting on the bench at the range just to see how long it would stay there. It was okay on a bright day but it had little or no light gathering qualities. On a cloudy day,(here feel free to read all winter) I just used my Leupold binoculars because they were better.

i got one its ok bit tough in low light but seems to do very well for the money.if you do go with it the way it is balanced and its size in the wind get a good tripod!

I looked through one.... don't recall but I don't think it was an 80mm.  Didn't like it.  I think the Vortex spotters are the deal in that 300-350 range.

Last time I checked, the Burris 80mm Landmark was $189.

i have a 15-45x60mm version and it works as well as i expect it to for $180 or so....which translates to ok at best. i ruined myself for that scope because i had it sitting next to a big swaro. when i compared it i about puked. the difference is ridiculous. those landmarks and any other $150-200 scope are just ok at best. you might not ever know the difference as long as you stay away from swaro's and the like. if you want to spend $300 look at the vortex nomad in the classifieds for $300 with a tripod. thats a deal.

Folks, thanks for all your input.  So, I picked-up a Konus 20-60x80 on ebay for just over $200 (no tax, free shipping).  Received it the other day, but haven't taken it outside, yet.  Hopefully, will this weekend.   But not sure what I'm going to see with all the gray and rain on the west side [sigh].  Anyway, I'll post my thoughts here after I have a chance to do some looking.  I'll be satisfied if it works "ok".

So, I was able to get out today for an hour or so and do some glassing through the new Konus 20-60x80.  Just looking at big game size features from various distances.  I can say that I am quite please at what I got for just over $200.00.  I prepared myself for some possible disappointment.  Especially, with clarity at 60x.  Between my sub par vision and a heavy overcast day I thought everything looked pretty good through the entire range of 20 - 60x.

Now, I wish I could look through a high-end Swaro or the like to compare.  Nah, better not go there.  For now, I'll stick with "ignorance is bliss".

I bought a Burris Spotting Scope/4.5X14 Package deal a few years back. I don't know the name of the spotting scope in the package but it's junk. I used it shooting yesterday and couldn't see the shots from the 243 at 100 yards through it. I want to dump it but would feel bad selling it.
