Guided Hunts at Welts
« on: November 14, 2009, 07:16:21 PM »
Was wondering what people thought of hunters advertising hunts on public land using the Welts Unit. Check out the Craig's list Seattle "Guided Hunts for $100" These guys are using the Welts property and going in early to secure the blinds near the water for guided hunts. I called to check this out and the kid said he is full for Sunday with three people. When I called, they said that they have people go in and secure a pond. First off, I can't believe people would pay to hunt the Welts Unit like that and using that place on a weekend just seems a bit unethical in the process. I don't have anything against a guided hunt and don't use them, but this one seems a bit out there.

they been doing it for years.... Watched them go secure the big pond with the blind at 4 AM... the other guy sat in his ntruck till his clients got there about an hour before legal.  Couldn't believe someone would pay to hunt a public spot....  Anyone notice how many people are shooting way more than the 15 shot limit?  Time to start calling the gamey's out....

I went out there at noon the other day after waiting to go in for an afternoon hunt. They 3 guys in the pond near the water said they were staying all day.  There were only three of them and while we were there we counted 26 shots for three guys between 11:15 and 12 :30.  Some other guys gave us the pond they were on and these same three fellows shot all the way to dark.  We got 13 birds for 21 shots with myself and my buddy. I just can't believe how many shots the guys took and didn't get birds in the other pond and were there all day, they said.

im not a fan of the 15 shot rule, but supposedly it keeps hunters from being there all day and skybusting if they are following the rules
