Who's Excited for Late Buck!!!!
« on: November 14, 2009, 08:39:49 PM »
Well I dont know about you guys, but this off weekend for me is driving me crazy. Well I managed to stay busy butchering my elk, but ready to get back into the woods.  So only 5 days left until Late Buck.  Hopefully I can find that 4 point blacktail I have been looking for, maybe he'll be dumb and chasing those doe.  What do you all have planned for late buck?

Surely you are going to take Huntnphool's advice from here:

And go look for him before late buck is upon us.(?)

im pumped. found a big buck the second weekend of the season but he was just to far for a shot. so after a long stalk and him not being there, i decided to check the area out. its a super steep hillside with one heavily used trail. tons of buck track, alot of beds, and some bice fresh rubs.

the fallowing weekend (last day of the season) i seen 7 deer total use this trail, including a nice spike and what i think was another buck...all of this was glassing about 800yards away.

the nearest point for any sort of shot is 300+ yards to the nearest point on the trail and i only have a 4x scope on my 30-06. and the scope on my girlfriends 243 is super blurry past 150ish yards when its on 9x (full power)  :dunno: so im gonna have a hard time trying to get close enough for a shot at any deer i see using that trail...

other then this spot, i do have a couple other nice holes where i have seen some nice buck this season. just a matter of beating the nasty brush to get to them, and hoping for a clear shot.

Looking forward to hunting whitetails the last four days of the season, next week.  The snow is flying and it should be good as long as I can keep from freezing to death.   :IBCOOL:
Will hunt for food.

My buddys told me that they saw a buck during the early modern season and didnt get a shot off at him nor did they hear any gun fire in the area so basically hes still up there. Well I went up there today because that unit is gonna be open for me for archery and saw good sign and a pretty fresh rub, so right now waiting for thanksgiving day to get here so i can go and try to bag him. Cant wait

I can't wait.  My late tag (GMU 111) goes in effect on Friday tell Tuesday and plan on hunting every hour of daylight during that time.  Have a couple of bucks projected I just have to catch up to them now.
