Scent for Blacktails
« on: November 16, 2009, 09:32:52 PM »
Any place to find scents for blacktail hunting, or will any of the other scents work?  I found that rattling and grunting does work for them, figured I might try some scent as well. I've tried sportco, work-sports, and a few others, to no avail.
Thanks!
Rob

I found blacktail scent at just about all the sporting goods stores around here.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Sunbirds has a pretty good variety of Blacktail scents.

Moccasin Joe's Brand is still around, I believe. I personally use James Valley Scents (Lethal Weapon, Wallhanger, and Full Rut Gel).  Deer are deer in my experience and a new scent is just a new deer in the area.  I've had great luck with scent drags using Lethal Weapon and Full Rut Gel.

If you can, call John and talk directly with him.  He knows a thing or two about using scents!

Thanks all.  Might just have to grab what I can get.  Still not sure how I'll use it....  I've watched enough whitetail hunts with drips, scrapes, etc.  These blacktails I feel are a little different, but maybe not so different.
