My first duck!!!

Man...after getting skunked a few times going upland bird hunting it sure helps the confidence level.   
It just helps you want to learn more and get better each time out... now hopefully I can get some geese soon.

Wanted to share the good vibes with the other guys on the forum.

nice shoot'n ....the orange makes me wonder if you were hunting multiple species (ie. upland and waterfowl)...this can be a lot of fun with non-toxic shot like tungsten in 6 shot for jump shooting...if you are new (and for all those who are new) just a friendly reminder that you cant shoot waterfowl and carry lead shot at the same time...even if you are being honest and not shooting any upland birds...the wardens don't tend to believe... so just as a recap...duckies and lead... ...but upland+ duckies + non-toxic + orange

well...I havent hunted every county in the state...but this is what the WDFW statement says      "Nontoxic shot has been required for waterfowl hunting in many parts of western Washington since 1986, and on all areas of the state since 1991."   sooooo....I think it means its required...  actually I am pretty darn sure...otherwise I would be buying up turkey loads and start shooting those instead of tungsten and bismuth.....uuhhhh, I think that you might be confusing the fact that some areas also require non-toxic shot for all birds...like some release sites and such....    but yeah lead and ducks is a no no ...unless I am totally ignorant someone please correct me...

Depends on the ducks.  I pass/jump shot a whole limit of teal in my blaze orange   Stupidest ducks ever

Just make sure you have your state bird stamp and federal bird stamp along with no lead shot.  Otherwise you could earn yourself a hefty ticket.  Lead shot and ducks get you 2 years loss of hunting license and a $1000 fine in this fine state.

Thanks guys!  It sure was fun...and for the record we were hunting a mixture of pheasants, quail and ducks out in Eastern Washington... that's why we would just keep our blaze orange on.  (I was using steel shot too for the duckies.. 

I was basically just the apprentice learning the ropes... interesting way to hunt ducks... we would drive around irrigation ditches and try to "jump them".  In the weekends to come I am going to try another method up in Skagit... sitting around with decoys and trying to blast them.   

Not with the above firearm of course... lol

That makes one duck and one rabbit in my first year of hunting... hope to add to it.
