Getting into calling
« on: November 17, 2009, 07:20:11 PM »
I am going to attempt coyote calling next week and was wondering what calls you would recommend for me to start with. I have a couple rabbit distress calls laying around but have never used them. Do i need another call to go with the rabbit distress? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the tips. i was thinking about a mouse squeeker... Hopefully there are some mentally challenged coyotes out there that will come in to my stellar calling techniques.  :)

Check out Youtube.com  tons of videos on calling predators.  I like a high pitched frantic distress the best.  If I only had one choice it would be that.

Approach and set-up are far more important than the exact sound. Go in careful, mind the wind, and set up with the advantage.... then just sound like something, anything, screaming for it's life!

i just squeak with my lips instead of carrying another call. its good to try several calls sometimes one will hit a nerve in them don't be afraid to mix it up and make sure you are still and give it time us ally i used to wait 30 min and now i stay on stand 45min i have shot allot of yotes past the 30 min mark that i would have not seen in the past also in cat country i will often stay 1hr because those cats like to sit and watch and don't usally come buzzin in like a yote might do good luck to you also good camo and a face mask or paint is a must for me
