Need a new target
« on: November 18, 2009, 09:56:38 PM »
My current target which is a block of foam has seen better days and I'm thinking of putting a new archery target at the top of my christmas list. I need something portable since I have to drive a couple miles to a place I can shoot and I've been looking at the Block Fusion targets, never used 1 and wonder if their worth the $100+ price tag. Any other recommendations are appreciated. As much as I would love to have the life size deer target at Bob's, I don't think I want Mrs. Claus to spend that kind of coin. TIA.

I sure like my bag style target (e.g. Delta Deadstop Target or Cabela's Outfitter Bag Archery Target).  It's kinda bulky and heavy, but very durable and portable.  The downside is that you can't shoot broadheads at it.  I also have a Delta 3-D that's broadhead friendly.

i have a black hole target that has been great for me. the only problem i now have with it is that with the alphamax and broadheads...the arrows go way deep into the target anywhere under 25 yards or so...the bow shoots too fast and/or hits too hard with the broadheads. with field tips it's fine.

I bought The Block ($100ish) at Sportsmans in May when I picked up my arrow. I've shot 2-5 times a week and its still in great shape--very little wear.

For that same amount of money you should think very seriously about the Rinehart 18 in 1 target.  You'd be set for broadheads and field points with years and years of life.  They have the no pass-through guarantee for a year, but you won't even come close to that; I don't think that all the bowhunters in Washington could redeem that warranty even if they could all shoot at the same target.  You get plenty of spots to shoot at no matter how you set it up.  Their foam is hands down the easiest to pull arrows from, also.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!
