i just got back and am soaked to the bone, saw two deer 1 about a 2 inch spike, i didnt even think of having my partner shoot him. the trees were blowing sideways and the deer were laying on the side of the road. maybe saturday will be better.
Well...we went out and I must same we were lame road hunters this AM. But, we had a late start. We were up in about 3" of snow and saw NO tracks. It seems like they are pretty low here, anyways. Headed home to put up the rifle and grab the shot gun. We of course saw a NICE 3x3 with eye guards on our way home but, crossed from the woods into someones back yard. !! Headed back out after we choke down some lunch.Good luck to everyone else:) And myself..lol
im tagged out but partner needs deer, nothing i can do if he doesnt want to hunt in this weather.
well we'll see how it goes. my clothes are soaking in doe pee right now so i'll have strong scent tomorrow. hopefully i dont' get mounted.
I got SO wet today I still hunted and walked up on several does and one spike. I left the car at 715 am and got back at 1:30. I heard some gun shots early. Walking through the ferns my pants finally failed soaked my long johns then my long johns soaked my socks. GAME OVER. I was wet so I couldn't stop moving and worst of all my feet were wet. My boots didn't fail. I was just soaked. The deer I did see were all inside of 50 yards! a couple @ 10 yards. I was going to stay out all day but, I didn't feel like getting sick! I guess I found a little fresh Elk sign too so I will be using that to my advantage next week for the late archery season!
Hiked up an old gated road...found a spot by a couple rubs..hubby bleated and grunted.
