First Beaver of the Year!!!
« on: November 19, 2009, 10:10:15 AM »
Well the boys and I got our first beaver of the year this last weekend. It was a nice one. The boys were really excited so it made it extra fun.

Are you trapping them? If so man have I got a place for you. I have a place I pheasant hunt and it is over run with beavers. I feel like I'm in Vietnam walking in a pungi stick pit. I'll tell you where it is if you want. Hopfully you can catch all of them.

Yes i am trapping them with a clam shell type trap.  I live in Entiat so Walla Walla might be a bit to far of a drive but thanks for the offer. Tyler

Nice

Good to see you getting the kids involved.  It's been a dying sport so we've got to get the next gen involved.

As a side note - Beaver and also muskrat are like ice cream to predators.

Before you get traps, do you have a Trappers Ed card?

You can use cage traps, and Hancock-(Koro) trap.  You can also use a colony trap under water.

You can also use padded legholds and conibears with the proper class and permit.
